Dr. Ian Clarke

Dr. Ian Clarke

Dr. Clarke has been working in Uganda for 30 years, he is the owner and Executive Chairman of Clarke Group, Ltd. which has interests in education, hospitality and agribusiness. He has had extensive experience in establishing start-up businesses and growing them to a corporate level. He has established 2 hospitals, including International Hospital Kampala. Dr. Clarke obtained his medical degree at Queens University Belfast and studied tropical medicine at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He then carried out a Masters degree in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Rose Nanyonga Clarke, PhD

Rose Nanyonga Clarke, PhD, is the current Vice Chancellor at International Health Sciences University; Senior Faculty Lecturer (Health Policy and Planning—Remote Learning); and a Jonas Scholar, Yale School of Nursing.  Dr. Nanyonga has a BSN from Arkansas Tech University (2002), a MSN from Baylor University (2005), a Graduate Certificate of Concentration in Global Health from the Whitney and Betty McMillan Center for International Studies at Yale University (2015), and a Ph.D. from Yale University (Health Policy, Nursing, 2015).

Sean Clarke

Sean Clarke

Sean Clarke is the CEO of Clarke Group Education, of which IHSU is a part. He has been in business in Uganda for the past 7 years, his last position was as COO of International Hospital Kampala. He is a shareholder and serves on the board of Spouts of Water, a social business that makes affordable water filters to allow accessible safe drinking water across Uganda. Sean’s interests are in social entrepreneurship. He has a BSc in Microbiology and a PGCE from the University of Bristol, and is completing his MBA with the University of Liverpool.

Jamie MacAlister

Jamie MacAlister

Jamie MacAlister,  our Director of the School of Business & Applied Technology. Jamie has been a Professor of Practice at Hult International Business School, and has been teaching courses in Global Strategy, Leadership, Coaching and Consultancy. He is also an experienced commercial manager, having previously been Commercial Director at Ashridge Executive Education. He specialises in Strategic Risk Taking and has recently published a business book entitled: "Risky Strategy: Understanding Risk to Improve Strategic Decisions[1]” based on Ashridge research on how leaders work with risk.  He has also been part of a team publishing research on “Corporate Leadership on Modern Slavery”, which has been recognised by Hult as “Researchers of the Year” for “research with the most impact in past 12 months”.  Jamie has started two social enterprises and had previously worked as a consultant with PwC and in marketing management with Procter & Gamble. He has an MBA from Wharton (University of Pennsylvania), a BA Engineering from Cambridge University, and is an Ashridge accredited Executive Coach.

Michael Niyitegeke

Michael Niyitegeke

Michael Niyitegeke is the Consultant Program Director (Applied ICT) at International Health Sciences University as well as an ICDL Africa Country Manager for Uganda. He is an expert in Leadership Development, and Business Technology Strategy. He holds an MBA from MsM/ESAMI Business School and is a Franklin Covey Certified Facilitator. Michael worked with Makerere University for 12 years in varied capacities as a researcher, trainer and head of Corporate Relations.

Michael is an Adjunct Lecturer with the ESAMI Business School and a Board member of the ICT Association of Uganda, Uganda Youth Forum and AIESEC Uganda. He was a member of the ICT Technical Working Group of the Presidential Investor Round Table, and is a member of several technology innovation review panels both locally and internationally.  He is a Rotarian and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of technology business leaders.

The School of Business & Applied Technology aspires to usher in a new way of training and tooling business professionals.
